The Rohingya, in Burma's Rakhine state, have been repeatedly stripped of basic rights and have suffered ethnic cleansing at the hands of the Burmese military and Rakhine nationalists. Almost a million have been forced from their homes into neighbouring Bangladesh. More languish in camps inside Burma.

Playing on passport and prisoner images, these photographs of internally displaced Rohingya reflect an intimacy that transcend notions of national identity inviting the viewer to see the Rohingya as individuals.
